With Great Sadness...

It is with great sadness that I am closing the auction for the Starfish Babies. I have prayed about if for months and it would seem the time has come. The donations stopped coming in months ago.
I want to thank each of you on behalf of the babies we were able to help receive their surgeries with the almost $9,000 we raised. What a blessing each of you have been.... each one who donated, who bid, who helped spread the word, who lifted these little ones up in prayer.

Auction Item #178 Rain Stick

I bought this wonderful rain stick in Arizona or New Mexico some time ago. As much as I love it I am trying to find things that others will enjoy so we can help the babies. I think this will be a special treasure for your family.

A rainstick is a long, hollow tube which is filled with small baubles such as beads or beans and has small pins or thorns arranged helically on its inside surface. When the stick is upended, the beads fall to the other end of the tube, making a sound reminiscent of a rainstorm as they bounce off the pins.

Rainsticks are usually made from any of several species of cactus. The cacti, which are hollow, are dried by the sun. The spines are removed, and driven back into the cactus, like nails. Pebbles or other small objects are placed inside the rainstick, and the ends are sealed off. A sound like falling water is made when the rainstick is inverted.

Playing Technique

The rainstick can be held at a 90 degrees angle, allowing the beads to fall gradually, and creating an atmospheric effect like the sound of rainfall. It can also be tapped to make a more controlled sound, or it can be used to create percussive rhythms as a shaker. If the rainstick is turned upside down slowly it will last longer and make a better sound.

They are a hospice and care for these precious babies... giving them love, nurturing and comfort as many of them leave this world and go to their forever home in the arms of Jesus. They also have been able to nurse some of the babies back to health.

The Auction~

There are only a few items up for auction at that time. Donations have slowed down to almost nothing at this time. I have been praying... for donations, for wisdom to know if this auction is to remain going. At this time I honestly don't know. I am so thankful to each one of you who has donated items and who has bid on them.... to each one of you who has made a difference in a child's life... who has taken part in saving their life. We have almost raised enough to pay for 3 children's surgeries in just a little over a year. That is amazing! That is God moving in mighty ways.
With the exception of the few items that are still available, the auction will be on hold for the rest of July. Even if new donations come in, (I am praying they do) I will hold off on listing them until Aug.
I am hoping that some of you lovely ladies will find something special to donate and that on Aug. 1st we can kick off another great month for the Starfish Babies that still need us.
If I haven't received donations or only a couple I will re-access keeping the auction open then.
